AUTOPROCESS Flat Wires

Advantages Compared to Kovar Flat Wire:

Repairing tracks on printed circuit boards with resistance welding and Kovar flat wire tends to fuse the track. This is because the melting point and the electrical resistance of Kovar is significantly higher than the copper track on the printed circuit board. During the welding process the excess electrical current required flows to the track on the printed circuit board to fuse or crack. This problem can be avoided by using copper flat wire to make repairs.
The thermal expansion of copper flat wire is identical to the copper track on the printed circuit board. The failure due to the thermal stress during wave soldering/solder reflow process is minimized.
When repairing of inner layer of MLB, "Void' defect will occur on the Kovar flat wire surface after lamination. With gold plated copper flat wire, the gold plating can be easily removed to allow the bare copper surface to be oxidized. 'Void' defect will never occur.
For over 10 years, 60% of the printed circuit shops in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan use copper flat wire in track repairing.
